I could have done better... but the disintegration wand was so much quicker than killing those high-level enemies. ;_;

Serenity [Sep. 29th, 2005|10:18 pm]

When you see this, quote Firefly in your journal.

Jayne: Six men came to kill me one time. The best of 'em carried this. It's a Callahan full-bore autolock. Customized trigger, double-cartridge thorough gauge. It is my very favorite gun.
Mal: [Chinese swearing] You offering me a trade?!
Jayne: A trade?! Hell, it's theft. It's the best damn gun made by man. It has extreme sentimental value. It's miles more worthy than what you got.
Mal: What I got? She has a name.
Jayne: So does this. I call it Vera.

Serenity, in theatres September 30th.

The book meme [Jun. 15th, 2005|10:57 pm]
[Tags|]

1) Select 5-10 (or so) favorite books.
2) Post the first line from them. If there's a prologue, or some introductory text, use your judgment.
3) Don't mention the title or author. Duh. That's for everyone else to figure out.
4) It's not a bad idea, after someone correctly identifies the book, to update the original entry to reflect that fact.
5) If you choose to extol the virtues of your favorite book in comments or after someone guesses them, nobody will likely stop you.

1: "It was a dumb thing to do, but it wasn't that dumb. There hadn't been any trouble out at the lake in years. And it was so exquisitely far from the rest of my life."

2: "Night had come to Waycross on Innish-Kyl. Night, but not darkness or quiet."

3: "There is a similarity, if I may be permitted an excusrion into tenuous metaphor, between the feel of a chilly breeze and the feel of a knife's blade, as either is laid across the back of the neck. I can call up memories of both, if I work at it. The chilly breeze is invariably going to be the more pleasant memory."

4: "It was starting to end, after what seemed most of eternity to me."

5: "In the week before their departure to Arrakis, when all the final scurrying about had reached a nearly unbearable frenzy, an old crone came to visit the mother of the boy, Paul." Dune by Frank Herbert, guessed by [info]skyknyt

6: "Miles returned to consciousness with his eyes still closed. His brain seemed to smoulder with the confused embers of some firey dream, formless and fading. He was shaken by a fearful conviction that he had been killed again, till memory and reason began to place this shredded experience."

7: "Kragar says that life is like an onion, but he doesn't mean the same thing by it that I do."

Not always the first line, I know. Sometimes you need the first half-paragraph. Some of these are too easy. Well, okay, 5 is too easy. Everyone should have read that. :-P
